Who runs this site
HoopScoreboard (hoopscoreboard.com) is a free basketball scoreboard and stat tracker run by an independent developer. You can reach us at [email protected].
The short version
- There are no accounts, and you don't sign up for anything.
- The team names, player names, and stats you enter stay in your browser. We never receive them.
- The site shows Google ads. Google uses cookies to serve those ads.
- We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
Game data (stored on your device only)
When you set up a game, the scoreboard saves your team name, opponent name, player names, jersey numbers, stats, and play-by-play history in your browser's local storage under the key hoopscoreboard_game_state. This lets you refresh the page without losing the game. This data is never sent to us or anyone else. The "Download" image of a game summary is also created in your browser.
Server and network logs
The site is hosted on Render and served through Cloudflare. Like most websites, these providers automatically log basic request details such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and counting visits. Cloudflare Web Analytics may also count page views. It doesn't use cookies.
Suggestions form
The home page includes an optional suggestions form hosted by Google Forms. Anything you type there is sent to Google Forms and shared with us so we can read your feedback. Don't include personal details you don't want to share. If you give an email address, we only use it to reply to you.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to respond.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on some pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Ads are not shown on the live scoring or game summary screens.
Cookies and local storage
HoopScoreboard itself does not set any cookies. Here is everything stored in your browser when you use the site:

The site also loads the Inter font from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests it from Google's servers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The scoreboard works without cookies.
How we use information
We use log data to keep the site running and secure and to see roughly how many people visit. We use suggestions and emails to improve the site and to reply to you. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Game data: on your device until you clear it. We never have a copy.
- Server and network logs: kept by Render and Cloudflare under their own retention policies.
- Suggestions and emails: kept only as long as useful for responding and improving the site.
Deleting your data
- Game data: tap "Exit Game" or "New Game," or clear this site's data in your browser settings. That removes it completely.
- Suggestions or emails: email [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion request." We'll delete what we have and reply within 30 days.
- Advertising data: Google controls this data. Use Google Ads Settings or Google's data and privacy controls.
Children
HoopScoreboard is a tool for coaches, parents, and scorekeepers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Player names you type into the scoreboard stay on your device. If you think a child has sent us personal information through the suggestions form or email, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
